First we go to Bhutan’s National Library where you can see a vast collection of Buddhist texts and other English version of Bhutanese Collection of Books. From there we move to National Institute of Zorig Chusum (widely known as the Painting school), roughly translated as the Thirteen Bhutanese skills of arts where people are trained for six years to master the art. Then we go to the National Institute of Traditional Medicine (Outside only). This institute is practicing and training Bhutanese traditional medicines and it has been found quite useful for the Bhutanese public and has grown popularity these days. After Lunch we visit the Memorial Chorten. This chorten (Stupa) was built in the memory of the Third King of Bhutan, King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck and also as a symbol of world peace.

Our next big destination will be Tashi Chhodzong (“the Fortress of the glorious religion”). This is the seat of the His Majesty, government officials and the Central Monk body. Day 3 Thimphu-Punakha
Early morning we drive over Dochu-la pass (3,088m/10,130ft) to Punakha. In the clear sky morning one could see beautiful snow caped mountains from the pass. Punakha is one of the most important places you find in the history of Bhutan and also one of the most beautiful place. Be it the central place of political ruling during the reign of Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel ( The man who unified Bhutan) in the sixteenth century or the place where Tibetans surrendered to Bhutanese during their invasion to our country (The day is still celebrated to these days). More over the Punakha dzong is built in between two big river called Pho-chhu and Mo- Chhu (The Male and Female Rivers). It was built there because of the security reasons during that era but today it is a beautiful sight to behold and one of the key destinations for tourists. Although four catastrophic fires and an earthquake in the past destroyed many historic monuments, Punakha Dzong still houses many sacred and historic artifacts and also the embalmed body of Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. Punakha is still the winter residence for the Monk body of Bhutan. Dinner and overnight in tourist class hotel in Punakha.
Day 4 Punakha-Wangduephodrang-Paro In the morning we drive to Wangdue Phodrang yet another important historical place. From the check point near the Wangdue river you can see Wangduephodrang Dzong majestically on top of a big hill and the most important figure in that area. Wangduephodrang Dzong (a fortress monastery in the shape of an elephant) played a very crucial role in unifying the Western, Central and Southwestern part of Bhutan as per our political history. After having lunch in one of the Bhutanese hotels we will visit the local market and go around places. Later, we drive back to Paro.. Dinner and overnight in Paro tourist class Hotel |
Day 5 Paro
As per tourist rating, Paro is the hot spot destination blessed with gifts of nature, historical facts, monuments, breathtaking landscape and many more, which we will explore together. Taa Dzong houses tremendous historical facts of Bhutan. Just below Taa Dzong we reach the Paro Rinpung Dzong (“fortress of the heap of jewels”). The political history of Paro begins from this Fortress, today it is the office of the local Government and the Monk body.

This ruin fortress (now a tourist destination) has a story of defeating the Tibetan invasion to Bhutan. Then way back we will visit Kichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest and holiest temple in Bhutan built in the 7th century by the Tibetan Saint and King name Songtsen Gyempo. Later in the evening we will visit a farm house, a chance to know the typical example of Bhutanese culture and lifestyles. We will also arrange your interaction with the host.
